Ubuntu One for Windows Beta 2 released

The Ubuntu One for Windows team has recently pushed the second beta version to its beta testers. This new beta is a huge improvement on the first beta release on three main areas:

  • Easy install.
  • Fast syncronization.
  • Syncronization of additional folders outside the Ubuntu One folder.
Easy install.

The installation is straight forward although it is not the standard Windows installer.

Fast syncronization.

Syncronization with the old engine was PAINFULLY slow. The Windows team is now using the same syncronization engine as in the Ubuntu Linux client and the improvement is phenomenal!

Syncronization of additional folders outside the Ubuntu One folder.

This is perhaps the most important aspect of this second Beta. Although the sync speed was a killer on the old beta, the possibility to sync all folders now make this client usable. Now you can syncronize your Document, Pictures, Music, etc folders on your Windows Machine(s) just as you would on your Ubuntu Linux machines.
